Wine of the Week, Dan Berger's Vintage Experiences

A 55% Syrah, 45% Grenache blend with a closed aroma on opening, but with an hour in a decanter, opens to show blue and black fruit with hints of pepper, pomegranate, underbrush and violets.  Fairly rich, with good acidity.  For those who find many Syrahs to be a bit one-dimensional, this wine is the antidote.  Should be better in a year.

87, Connoisseurs' Guide, March 2008

Light but fruity with both black and blueberries suggested in the somewhat perfumed aromas, this wine turns out to be a bit fuller in body that its fruit is big, but it more than makes up for that slight imbalance with a racy sense of vigor to that fruit.  Pert at the finish, it is a wine for all but the most savory, chewy fare.

Wine of the Week, Dan Berger, September 2008

A 50/50 blend of Grenache and Syrah, this light red wine has a cranberry/pomegranate sort of aroma with faint hints of pepper and plum. There is little complexity here when the cork is pulled, but aeration allows the wine to open a bit. Annually a great value from this superb Monterey County producer.
