2017 Grenache Blanc
Grenache Blanc is the white version of the red Grenache and is widely planted in the Rhône Valley and in Spain. It is often used along with Marsanne, Roussanne, Viognier, and other varietals in white wine blends in the Rhône. It is also finding increasing popularity in the south of France, as a stand-alone varietal. Very little is planted in California.
The 2017 Grenache Blanc displays a beautiful straw color with aromas of apricot, golden delicious apple, and subtle baking spices. On the palate, these elements are joined by flavors of asian pear and toasted brioche. This is a light bodied white which is delicious as an aperitif, or for pairing with your favorite pasta, seafood, or grilled chicken dish.
"A light-yellow shade of pink, this bottling begins with a sharp orange-peel tang that cuts into the slightly fatter aromas of rose petal and rosewater. There is an immense amount of grip to the sip, where mandarin-pith, honeysuckle and jasmine flavors are undercut by an herbal streak of shiso leaf." - Matt Kettmann, October 2020
"Pale salmon pink, smooth and lush with deep, lush fruit and crisp acidity; another home run for this winery that usually bats 1.000." - Anthony Dias Blue, July 2020
"Light pink/salmon-hued, the 2019 Rose of Grenache has classy notes of dried strawberries, orange blossom, and salty, spicy nuances. It's medium-bodied and well-balanced, with nicely integrated acidity and a great finish. I'd be thrilled to drink a bottle any time over the coming summer months." - Jeb Dunnuck, August 2020
"With fruit dedicated solely to the production of rosé, Morgan’s 2019 blend of 86% Grenache and 14% Cinsault was created from grapes picked at just the right time to maintain higher acidity and lower sugar. Perfectly crisp and dry with fantastic balance of fresh, bright fruit, this bottle tastes above its price range." - Misty, August 2020
